CAT Preparation:-
There are two sections in CAT Exam. The first section will focus on Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation; the second on Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning. There are total 60 questions in the paper, 30 in each section. The duration of CAT 2011 will be 140 minutes.
Quantitative Section:- Quantitative ability questions broadly categorized as Arithmetic, Algebra and Geometry CAT typically tests a student's quantitative ability from over 25 topics.
Verbal Ability Section :- Verbal Ability questions based on Vocabulary, English Usage / Grammar, Verbal Reasoning.
Logical & Data Interpretation Section :- Data Intrepretation section broadly classified as comprising two types Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency.
CAT Preparation Tips & Techniques:-
- Planning:- Planning is very essential for the preparation of CAT. You must start with collecting information about the CAT preparation material; if required, do enquire about the CAT coaching institutions.
- Execute:- This step is very crucial. From your planning process, you must have decided, when you are deciding to take the exam. Once decided, you start working towards that goal. You should slowly increase the pace of your preparation; being consistent in your preparation is quite crucial.
- Continue reading till the last day. Do not stop.
- Focus on Grammar. The weight-age for the same is increasing day by day.
- English Usage questions (typically the Fill in the blanks types) can best be handled by knowing proper usage of words. So focus on vocabulary development.
- In Quantitative Areas – focus on Geometry and Number systems. Number Systems have always been an important chapter from the point of view of CAT and Geometry has gained a lot over the last 2 years.
