About Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management

Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management is one of the most reputed institute of management in Nashik which was founded in 1971 with the sole mission “Welfare of Foreign students” by Dr. S.B. Mujumdar, then a professor at the famous Fergusson College (Pune). This Oxford of east attracted many Afro Asian students for higher studies. Problems of admission, accommodation, cultural shocks and language barriers were severe.
Dr. Mujumdar offered to help out and established “Symbiosis International and Cultural Centre” and “International Students Home”. He considered these foreign students as “Ambassadors of Goodwill” and a “National Investment” to promote international understanding and camaraderie and hence adopted the motto “Vasudeva Kudumbakam”, much before the present concept of globalization.
